O‑Dairy® Swiss – Inspired by the Alps
Flavor and Tradition
O‑Dairy® Swiss is our version of classic cheeses from Switzerland, such as Emmental. Like Emmental, it carries a mildly sweet taste with a light hazelnut note. The characteristic holes, known as “eyes,” form naturally during aging when carbon dioxide is released by special cultures. These traditions have been practiced in the European Alps for generations, and we honor them in our own production.
Texture and Culinary Uses
This cheese has a firm texture, a unique flavor, and excellent melting qualities. Because of that, it works beautifully in many dishes. You’ll find it in French Onion Soup, Reuben sandwiches, and Chicken Cordon Bleu. It also shines on cheese platters, where its appearance and taste make it a favorite among guests.
Nutrition Benefits
O‑Dairy® Swiss provides protein and essential vitamins including A, D, E, K, and the B‑complex group. In addition, it is rich in calcium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, and selenium. These nutrients make it not only delicious but also a wholesome food choice.
Swiss Cheese in the United States
The term “Swiss cheese” is often used in the U.S. to describe cheeses resembling Emmental. Many traditions came with Swiss immigrants in the 1880s. While Europeans refer to each variety by name, Americans often use the generic term “Swiss style.” Our use of the name Swiss pays tribute to cheesemakers both in the Alps and in the United States.
Melting Cheeses in Indonesia
In Indonesia, melting cheeses are popular for baked goods, pizzas, or toppings on corn chips and fries. Options include mozzarella, Monterey Jack, cheddar, pepper jack, provolone, and Swiss. For those who enjoy stronger aromas, varieties such as Camembert, Raclette, Matahari, or Brie also melt beautifully in the oven.
